UPDATE: 11:45 a.m.
An evacuation order has been lifted for more than 50 properties near the July Mountain wildfire, including Kane Valley.
There are 52 properties being taken off of order, on Kane Valley Road, in Kingsvale and on Coalmont Road, southeast of Brookmere. A full list of affected addressed from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District can be found here.
Most of those homes being taken off of order were first evacuated on August 14, after the Brook Creek wildfire broke out. That blaze is alleged to have started from a truck fire that spread into the bush along Coldwater Road in Brookmere, and by the next day that blaze had merged with the July Mountain fire.
Another 83 properties remain evacuated by the fire, including Brookmere and about two dozen properties on Juliet Drive, with addresses between 5644 and 5868. Those homes on Juliet Drive have been evacuated since July 20.
Meanwhile, in a further update at 11 a.m., the TNRD lifted evacuation alerts for another 135 properties near these areas, including Aspen Grove and parts of Kane Valley Road closer to the Okanagan Connector. Addresses affected by that update can be found here.
The July Mountain blaze is listed at just over 19,000 hectares in size and is still out of control, although no substantial growth has been reported for two weeks at the fire. The BC Wildfire Service says with cooler weather in recent days, the blaze is burning at a rank one-to-two level.
