Kamloops para-athlete Greg Stewart is a Paralympic gold medalist.
The seven-foot-two giant threw a Paralympic record of 16.75 metres in the F46 shot put event, which was also his personal best at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
He led early and held onto the lead the rest of the way. Russian Olympic Committee athlete Nikita Prokhov provided the only close competition; he placed second with a best throw of 16.29 m.
Stewart was a silver medalist at the 2019 Worlds. The 35-year-old has upped it to a gold medal tonight in Tokyo.
