With the B.C. vaccine passport program taking effect on Monday, the City of Kamloops has released a list of facilities and events where people will have to prove they are vaccinated.
Linda Stride, the Recreation, Health and Wellness Supervisor, with the City says people will need to show their cards at the Tournament Capital Centre, the fitness centre at the Westsyde Pool, at all City arenas, and at all community centres.
City facilities that do not require the public to provide proof of vaccination include City Hall, the Civic Operations Centre, the Human Resources, Development and Engineering building on Seymour Street, the Kamloops Museum & Archives, the Community Services Centre on Mission Flats Road, all fire stations, and the RCMP detachments.
A proof of vaccination is not required if people are going to a City meeting, paying a bill, or applying for a permit. It is also not required for parents, coaches, and volunteers supporting children and youth during recreation and sport programs, at sport and recreation programs for children under the age of 18, and at aquatic programs and public swimming at City facilities.
“This is a new way of doing business for everyone, and we appreciate the public’s patience as we adjust to new operations following the Provincial Health Orders,” Stride said. “We ask residents to continue to be kind to staff as we work through the new protocols.”
“The City of Kamloops would like to thank residents for their ongoing efforts to protect our community and reduce the spread of COVID-19.”
As well, masks are mandatory in all City facilities and people are being told to not enter any City facility if they are feeling sick.
