UPDATE: 1:35 p.m.
An E-bike rider was found dead along Highway 1 in Kamloops early Tuesday morning after a hit and run, Kamloops RCMP have confirmed.
Police were called to the scene across the highway from Holman Road and Pineridge Golf Course at 5:45 a.m., saying a man was found dead there after he was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Mounties were first called to the crash scene after two drivers pulled over when they saw a bike with a blinking light, where the dead man was found near the E-bike on the shoulder of the highway.
“Sadly, the deceased man was struck by a vehicle,” Kamloops RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn said.
“We are looking to speak to whoever the driver of that vehicle may be and to anyone who was travelling in that area around that time.”
Details on the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run are not known.
Evelyn said the man killed had long black hair and was wearing a black jacket and dark blue jeans. Further details on who that person is remains unclear.
“At that time of the morning, it was still quite dark. If anyone thinks they saw the man or the flashing light on his E-bike, was driving in the area prior to that time, or has information which could help with the investigation in anyway, please let us know,” Evelyn added.
