Kamloops RCMP say officers are searching the Silver Sage Trailer Park as part of the Shannon White missing person case, while Kamloops Search and Rescue is searching an area west of the city.
In an update early Friday afternoon, Mounties said Shannon’s Jeep was seen travelling westbound on the Trans-Canada Highway outside of city limits. It was spotted sometime after she left home at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, and before her Jeep TJ was found downtown on Nicola Street, the following afternoon, Nov. 2.
Mounties say there was a 45-minute period on Nov. 1 when Shannon’s Jeep was outside of Kamloops.
“With this new information, the Kamloops RCMP are seeking any witnesses who may have observed Shannon’s Jeep west of Kamloops on Nov. 1, to please contact police,” Cpl. Dave Marshall of the Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit says.
“We currently have a large search and rescue contingent searching for Shannon and we will continue to provide updates regarding the search and any additional assistance we may require from the public.”
Shannon was seen leaving her home in Sahali on Nov. 1, presumably heading to work at the Kamloops Hyundai dealership on Notre Dame Drive, where she typically starts at 8:30 a.m.. She never arrived at work and was reported missing later that same morning.
Friends have called her disappearance shocking and say it is completely out of character, with many in Kamloops expressing concern with what may have happened.
Shannon is a 32-year-old white woman, standing five-feet-five-inches tall with blonde hair and green eyes.
She is an active member of the Jeep community, and friends have organized a Jeep convoy through Kamloops tonight to bring awareness to her case. The convoy will leave the Petro-Canada gas station in Pineview at 6 p.m., and travel through the city centre to Batchelor Heights. Those taking part will have posters on their vehicles with Shannon’s photo, and information about how to contact police.
“And if somebody knows something, maybe they just haven’t seen it. Maybe they haven’t seen it on social media. Maybe they’ll see it, if we drive around and we drive past them,” friend Kloee Davies told NL News on Tuesday.
Davies notes she is still stunned about Shannon disappearance almost two weeks ago.
“She would never leave without her dog. She obviously didn’t go wheeling. Even if she did, she wouldn’t not take her dog. She wouldn’t not tell us where she was going. And she wouldn’t leave her Jeep in downtown Kamloops and just not come back,” Davies said.
A GoFundMe page to buy advertising to help raise awareness of the case, to pay Shannon’s rent and to help her family with costs of travelling to B.C. has also now raised more than $8,600. That online fundraiser can be found here.
Police are continuing to appeal for people to come forward with any information that might help the search, by calling Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and referencing file number 2021-38386.
