Kamloops Blazers goaltender Dylan Garand has signed a three-year entry level contract with the New York Rangers.
The 19-year-old has a 15-4-0 record so far this season with a 1.85 goals against average and a .932 save percentage.
Garand’s save percentage is the best in the WHL, his 15 wins are tied for the most in the league, while his 1.85 goals against average is second best.
Over his 109-game WHL career, Garand has a 70-26-6 record, a 2.32 goals against average, and a .918 save percentage, all with the Blazers. He’s also got 10 shutouts in his career, two of which have come in the 2021-22 season.
Drafted by the Rangers in the fourth round (103rd overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft, Garand is the third straight Blazers starting goaltender to sign an NHL contract after Connor Ingram and Dylan Ferguson who both signed contracts in 2017.
The Victoria native is one of three Team Canada goaltenders at the 2022 World Junior Championship, joining fellow teammate Logan Stankoven, who has signed a contract with the Dallas Stars.
Garand is one of three players who were part of the silver medal winning Canadian team at the 2021 world juniors.
