For the second time this season, Dylan Garand has been named the Western Hockey League’s goaltender of the week for the week ending Jan. 23, 2022.
In two games against the Prince George Cougars, the 19-year-old made 54 saves, giving him a 1.50 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage.
He made 31 saves in Friday’s 5-1 win in Prince George, and followed that up with a 23 save effort at home on Saturday in a 3-2 win.
Garand was also named WHL goalie of the week for the week ending Nov. 7, 2021. He was also named the WHL goalie of the month for November.
The New York Rangers prospect currently leads the WHL with a 2.04 goals-against average while his 19 wins this 2021-22 season is tied for top spot in the league, along with Edmonton’s Sebastian Cossa.
In 116 career WHL regular season games with the Blazers, Garand has a 75-28-4-2 record, to go along with a 2.33 goals-against average, .917 save percentage and 10 shutouts.
Garand and the Blazers are scheduled to play four games this week. They’re at home to Vancouver on Wednesday, Jan. 26, home to Victoria on Friday and Saturday, and in Vancouver on Sunday.
