Another accolade for Kamloops Blazers co-captain Logan Stankoven as he was named the WHL player of the month for January.
The 18-year-old led all WHL skaters with 24 points (10 goals and 14 assists) in nine games since retuning from the World Juniors to sit in fourth place in the scoring race with 56 points (23 goals and 33 assists).
Nearly half (27) of Stankoven’s 56 points have come during his current 10-game point streak which goes back to Dec. 8 – the second-longest active streak in the WHL this season.
The Kamloops native had at least three points in six of his nine games in January, capped off by five-point outing against the Victoria Royals on Jan. 29, where Stankoven scored his third WHL hat-trick.
Stankoven, a Dallas Stars prospect, was also named WHL player of the week yesterday.
He will next be in action when the Blazers head to Langley for a game against the Vancouver Giants on Friday before a pair of games against the Royals on the Island on Saturday and Sunday.
