The Kamloops-based British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has begun the search for a new President and Chief Executive Officer.
It comes as former President Jim Lightbody stepped down in Dec. 2021. He had been on medical leave since 2019 after being diagnosed with cancer.
“I would like to thank everyone for their support, it’s been truly humbling,” Lightbody said, in a Dec. 2021 statement. “It was an honour to be BCLC’s CEO; however, it’s time for someone else to lead the company as I look forward to my next chapter.”
Lightbody joined BCLC in 2001 and was Vice President of Lottery Gaming and Vice President of Casino and Community Gaming, before becoming President and CEO in 2014.
“We are excited to find our next President & CEO to build on BCLC’s successes to innovate our business in a way that serves the best interest of our players and communities,” BCLC Board Chair, Greg Moore, said.
“Working collaboratively with BCLC’s Board of Directors and Executive team, the successful candidate must be a values-driven leader who is passionate about social purpose and furthering an empowering, equitable and inclusive culture for our employees and industry.”
The lottery corporation has chosen Leaders International to help in the recruitment process.
Lynda Cavanaugh will continue as interim President and CEO until a permanent replacement is found. She has been in the role for the past year, taking over from Greg Moore on Jan. 22, 2021.
