The British Columbia Lottery Corporation says the expectation is that the new President and CEO will be active and involved in the Kamloops community.
Speaking on the NL Morning News, BCLC Board Chair Greg Moore, made that comment when asked if the successful candidate will be required to live in Kamloops, where the lottery corporation’s headquarters are located.
“We are keeping that open during our recruitment process but it is going to be extremely clear that the head office isn’t moving out of Kamloops,” he said.
“The majority of our executive right now work out of Kamloops, and that the CEO regardless of where they reside, will have an important place in the Kamloops office as well as the Vancouver office.”
Last week, the lottery corporation officially began the search to replace former President Jim Lightbody, who stepped down in Dec. 2021. He had been on medical leave since 2019 after being diagnosed with cancer.
Moore tells NL News the search process to replace Lightbody could take between four and five months.
“Much like Jim Lightbody who was very involved in the community of Kamloops with the Blazers and sort of the business organizations, we are going to expect the same thing out of the new CEO that comes in,” Moore added.
Lynda Cavanaugh will continue as BCLC interim President and CEO until a permanent replacement is found. She has been in the role for the past year, taking over from Greg Moore in January of last year.
