Tim McGraw and Darius Rucker will be the headlining the 2022 edition of the Rockin’ River Music Fest in Merritt, set to take place between July 28 and 31.
A three-time Grammy award winner, McGraw is returning to the stage in “B.C.’s country music capital” after performing at the Merritt Mountain Music Festival 17 years ago.
“I am incredibly happy with the lineup and I think it will make people from my age down to 16 very happy, Festival President, Kenny Hess told NL News. “We’ve covered it all off.”
Joining Tim McGraw and Darius Rucker at the are Chris Janson, Billy Currington, HARDY, Randy Houser, Kip Moore, and Jo Dee Messina.
Also on the lineup is Tyler Joe Miller, Rodney Atkins, Aaron Pritchett, Cam, Mackenzie Porter, Madeline Merlo, Kenny Hess, Chris Buck Band, Donny Grubb Band, Appaloosa, Becca Hess, Karen Lee Batten, Cross Parallel, and Merle Swaggard.
“All ages will love this festival lineup,” Hess added.
“I went at it like as if this is my swansong, I want to make sure I make everybody happy and let us pray it is not my swansong. I might be 60 years old but I still got some good life left in me but I’d like to see a bunch of these festivals.”
Mayor Linda Brown says she is happy to see the festival return to the Nicola Valley after the 2020 and 2021 editions had to be cancelled because of COVID-19.
“This has been an unquestionably challenging couple of years for the City of Merritt, culminating with the November 2021 flood,” she said, in a statement.
“Now more than ever, we need things to be excited about. We need things to look forward to, that make us feel vibrant and remind us that life can and will be good again, even if times are hard right now. We are thrilled to be a small part in bringing the sounds of Rockin’ River back to the Nicola Valley.”
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. this Thursday, March 17.
