Kamloops City Council is moving ahead with a 10 year agreement with the province to use the existing Galore Crescent emergency access across crown land to connect Juniper West with Rose Hill Road.
Speaking on The NL Morning News Mayor Ken Christian says the temporary licence allows time to work on securing a permanent connection with the extension of Qu’Appelle Boulevard through to Rose Hill Road.
“Galore is a new portion of Juniper West. It’s all roughed in now. I suspect it’ll be paved as soon as the paving plans open up and it will push the Juniper development very close to Rose Hill Road. But this was the approval of a strip of land that we would need to use on an interim basis as an emergency access for Juniper West.”
The permanent solution will come as a new nearly 300 home subdivision is developed.
“It will give us a comfort pillow there, but ultimately Juniper West develops that subdivision as market demand requires additional lots to be brought on. Right now that demand is very, very high so it has been moving in a westerly direction quite quickly and I suspect that will continue.”
The Province has agreed to issue the City a 10-year licence of occupation, for $1. The City will continue to work with Juniper West Developments, the Province, and Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc to secure that permanent link.
