Kamloops teenager Cameron Whitcomb has made the Top-20 on this season of American Idol.
The 18-year-old sang Black Sabbath’s Changes during yesterday’s episode, in what was a toned down performance compared to his over-the-top style which has been dominated by back flips.
It’s a change that the judges noticed following his performance
“Hey man, we get kind of enamoured with how fast you talk and your accent and your energy, but you stood up there and really delivered it. And you showed how serious of an artist you’re growing into and becoming,” Luke Bryan, one of the three judges this season said.
“When you started off I said, ‘oh my God, he is going to sing the song serious all the way through'”, Lionel Richie added. “It only lasted one verse, but the seriousness was noted. Now take a chance and try a second verse standing still and then go crazy. Enjoy your career my friend, you’re on your way.”
Whitcomb won’t have to wait long his fate as American Idol is expected to reveal its list of Top-14 candidates during tonight’s episode.
