It was the Logan Stankoven show as the WHL announced its Division winners for the 2021-22 regular season.
Stankoven was named the BC Division Player of the Year, Most Sportsmanlike, and Humanitarian Player of the Year. The Kamloops native was also named to the BC Division First All-Star team along with Blazers goaltender Dylan Garand.
The 19-year-old Stankoven will be going up against Olen Zellweger of the Everett Silvertips, Connor Bedard of the Regina Pats and Ben King of the Red Deer Rebels for the WHL Player of the Year award.
Garand meanwhile was named the BC Division Goaltender of the Year meanwhile he too will be up for the WHL Goaltender of the Year Award. He will be going up against Edmonton’s Sebastian Cossa, Winnipeg’s Daniel Hauser, and Portland’s Taylor Gauthier.
Blazers 20 year-olds Luke Toporowski and Quinn Schmiemann were named to the BC Division Second All-Star team while Connor Levis is the BC Division’s representative for WHL Scholastic Player of the Year.
The Blazers organization is also up for the Team Business Award facing off against the Lethbridge Hurricanes, the Prince Albert Raiders, and the Everett Silvertips.
This is the first year the Western Hockey League switched to a Division nominee format rather than handing it out by conference.
The WHL Award winners will be announced on June 1.
