For the second time in four months, Kamloops Blazers co-captain Logan Stankoven has been named the WHL’s Player of the Month.
In 10 combined regular season and playoff games in April, the 19-year-old Kamloops native posted 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points, earning him the WHL’s Player of the Month Award for the month.
Stankoven’s efforts helped the Blazers clinch their third straight B.C. Division title. He also led the Blazers with seven goals and six assists in their first round series sweep of the Spokane Chiefs.
A second round pick of the Dallas Stars, Stankoven also won the Player of the Month Award in January after putting up 24 points in the calendar month.
His latest accolade comes four years to the day when he was selected fifth overall by the Kamloops Blazers in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
The Blazers now turn their attention to their second round playoff series against the Vancouver Giants. They will host games one and two this Friday, May 6, and Saturday, May 7, before playing in Langley on Tuesday and Thursday of next week.
If necessary, game five if necessary will be in Kamloops next Friday, May 13.
