Citing significant progress at the bargaining table, the BC Government Employees Union says it will be scaling back and ending job action at liquor distribution warehouses as a sign of good faith.
In a statement Tuesday, the BCGEU also says it will be ending the overtime ban, effective immediately.
“The committee returned to the bargaining table with the BC Public Service Agency (PSA) last Thursday and has made significant progress,” the statement said. “The two sides will continue to meet throughout the week, hoping to finalize a tentative agreement.”
Picket lines were set up at four distribution warehouses, including one in Kamloops, on Aug. 15, while the overtime ban for all BCGEU members except those working for the BC Wildfire Service during the current wildfire season came into effect on Aug. 22.
It is not clear how close both sides are to a deal as they will continue to maintain the media and member blackout that has been in place for the past week.
