The Village of Chase will have a new face on the Mayor’s chair come October.
This as Mayor Rod Crowe has decided he will be retiring, and will not be seeking re-election in the fall.
Aside from healing from his recent knee replacement surgery, Crowe says he is excited to relax and enjoy his retirement, spending time with family and friends.
“Its a job that keeps you extremely busy, and there is other things in life that I would like to be able to get out and do, and go visit some friends and do a bit of fishing and travelling so, unfortunately being in this job doesn’t provide me much opportunity to do a lot of that stuff.”
During his time in the Mayors chair, Crowe says there were some major accomplishments in Chase, despite the strains caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He says community grants helped the village carry out a number of larger, much needed projects; including upgrades to the water treatment plant and the sewage system, as well as major highway upgrades.
“So far we have approximately $1,000,000 worth of paving we just did the most recent contract of the paving and prior to that, there hadn’t been any paving in Chase for probably close to 15 years.”
His biggest piece of advice for those seeking office in the fall, is to represent the entire community of Chase.
“As much as people have friends in the community and would like to see those things done for their group, I would highly recommend they drop that and focus on what’s in the best interest of the entire community not just a select group.”
Crowe is strongly endorsing Councilor Steve Scott, who is running for the Mayors chair for the Village of Chase.
