Organizers of the Kamloops Ribfest say the 2022 edition of the annual three-day event raised a total of $128,800.
In a statement Friday, they say they raised a total of $78,000 for local charities, with the rest of the money coming from a one-time provincial grant.
“The economic impact of the 2022 event is estimated to be over $3 million thanks to all the local vendors, suppliers and partners we use in the local economy,” Ribfest Chair, Danica Wilkinson, said.
“The partnerships and sponsor support we have received over the years is astonishing. We extend our deepest thanks to everyone, and especially those who have been with us since day one.”
Rotary spokesperson Bryce Herman told NL News that about 50,000 people made their way through Riverside Park over the course of three days, with the peak of around 20,000 on Saturday night.
Since its inception in 2012, Ribfest has raised more than $750,000 for local charities and organizations in Kamloops. Organizations hoping for funding can apply online.
“Organizations our Rotary club funds have been hit hard from inflation over the summer, and we are looking forward to rolling up our sleeves and supporting our community through grants and hands-on projects,” Herman added.
Organizers have also confirmed that the 2023 Ribfest will take place from August 11 to 13, 2023.
