Kamloops Blazers forward Fraser Minten has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
A second round draft pick (38th overall) of Toronto in the 2022 NHL Draft, Minten, 18, impressed at the Leafs Development Camp and played in one preseason game before suffering a wrist injury.
The Vancouver native recorded 55 points (20 goals, 35 assists) in 67 games with the Blazers during the 2021-22 season, and followed that up with 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in 17 playoff games.
Thursday morning, Minten was also named an alternate captain for all Blazers home games.
He is expected back in Kamloops this weekend, and could be back in the Blazers lineup on Oct. 21 when the Winnipeg Ice are in town.
