Fraser Minten had three points in his return to the Blazers lineup but the Winnipeg Ice came away with the 5-3 win on Friday night.
Goals from Matthew Savoie, Connor McClennon, and Zach Benson had Winnipeg up 3-0 before Kaden Hammell put Kamloops on the board at 16:07 in the first period.
Owen Pederson restored Winnipeg’s three goal lead 13 seconds later to cap a five goal first period at Sandman Centre.
Both teams played a scoreless second period before powerplay goals from Daylan Kuefler and Fraser Minten had the Blazers within one goal early in the third.
The Blazers comeback attempt was cut short as Carson Lambos scored Winnipeg’s fifth of the night, restoring their two goal lead, with less than eight minutes to play.
Dylan Ernst had three saves on seven shots and was credited with the loss, while Michael Schnattinger, who came on in relief, made 21 saves.
Daniel Hauser made 42 saves for his eighth win of the season as Winnipeg – the top ranked team in the CHL – improved to 10-1 on the season with the Blazers dropping to 5-2-0-1.
