Goals from six different players helped the Kamloops Blazers beat the Kelowna Rockets 6-1, in front of a sold out crowd at Sandman Centre Saturday night.
Logan Stankoven opened the scoring at 9:34 in the first period before Fraser Minten doubled the lead just 20 seconds later.
Aapo Sarell and Matthew Seminoff added to the Blazers’ lead, the former with his first career WHL goal, making it the third time this season where Kamloops have scored four in the first period.
A scoreless second period followed before Kyle Masters and Connor Levis rounded out the Blazers’ scoring in the third period, making it 5-0 and then 6-1 on the night.
Andrew Cristall scored the Rockets only goal of the evening at 6:26 of the third period to end Dylan Ernst’s shutout bid; the Kamloops netminder made 19 saves for his seventh win of the season.
Talyn Boyko turned aside 32 of the 38 shots he faced.
The win takes the Blazers to 8-4-2-1 on the season dropping the Rockets to 6-8-1-0. The season series between the two teams is currently tied at one game a piece.
Next up for the Blazers is a three game road trip, against the Vancouver Giants on Nov. 18, the Portland Winterhawks on Nov. 19, and the Tri-City Americans on Nov. 23.
Their next home game is against the Moose Jaw Warriors on Friday, Nov. 25.
