Dylan Ernst stopped all 38 shots he faced for his – and the Kamloops Blazers’ – first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over the Vancouver Giants on Friday night.
Logan Stankoven led the way for the home team with a goal and two assists, while Connor Levis and Matthew Seminoff also scored for the Blazers on a night they raised a third consecutive B.C. Division banner to the Sandman Centre rafters.
The Blazers left it late though with Stankoven’s game winner coming at 15:34 of the third period. It didn’t take long to double the lead Levis made it 2-0 on the power play just 55 seconds later.
Seminoff put the icing on the cake with an empty net goal from distance at 18:21, in front of the 4,192 fans that were in attendance.
Ernst’s shutout game him his 12th win of the season. The Weyburn, Sask. native went 5-1-1 in November with a 1.77 GAA and a .938 save percentage. Giants goalie Jesper Vikman made 41 saves on 43 shots in a losing effort.
The Blazers (13-5-3-1) solidified their position atop the B.C. Division with a four point lead over the Prince George (13-11-0-0) after the Cougars fell 5-1 to the Regina Pats. The Giants sit third in the division with a 9-11-3-2 record.
The two teams will rematch at the Langley Events Centre Saturday night, before the Blazers head to Victoria for games against the Royals on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Their next home game will also be against the Vancouver Giants on Saturday, Dec. 9.
