Kamloops Blazers forward Logan Stankoven has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 4, 2022.
The Kamloops native had nine points (two goals and seven assists) and a plus-7 rating in three games as the Blazers retook the lead atop the B.C. Division standings.
Stankoven had a goal and three assists in Wednesday’s 9-3 win over the Regina Pats, a goal and two assists in a 3-0 win over Vancouver on Friday, and two assists in a 6-5 shootout loss in Vancouver on Saturday.
In 19 games this season, the Blazers captain has 16 goals and 26 assists for 42 points, good for third in the WHL scoring race behind Kelowna’s Andrew Cristall (45 points in 24 games) and Regina’s Connor Bedard (64 points in 28 games).
A second round pick of the Dallas Stars, Stankoven has 205 points (97 goals and 108 assists) over 151 WHL regular season games – the fourth-most among active WHL skaters. He’s also amassed 33 points (18 goals and 15 assists) in 23 playoff games.
Stankoven and the Blazers are heading to Vancouver Island for a pair of games against the Victoria Royals on Tuesday and Wednesday.
They will then return home to face the Vancouver Giants on Friday night, Dec. 9, and Victoria on Dec. 10.
