It will come out as a “W” in the column, but perhaps one that the Kamloops Blazers would like to learn from.
After jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first period, the Blazers needed overtime, but were able to come away with a 6-5 victory in Prince George on Friday night.
Shane Van Olm started the scoring early in the first, on an assist by Ashton Ferster — the first of 3 points Ferster had on the night.
Ferster would add a pair of goals in the 1st, on top of a power-play goal by Daylan Kuefler, to give the Blazers a 4-0 lead heading into the dressing room after the 1st.
However, Prince George would continue to chip away.
5-2 after the second period, the Cougars would score 3 in the third to put the game to overtime.
But despite being on their heels, the Blazers would ultimately prevail.
Fraser Minten would score on a power-play 2:11 into OT to give the Blazers the 6-5 victory.
Fraser Minten’s PP game-winner boosted the PP to a league-leading 29.5% on the man advantage.#Kamloops
