Kamloops Blazers forward Ryan Hofer has signed a three-year NHL entry level contract with the Washington Capitals.
The 20-year-old Winnipeg native was drafted by the Capitals in the sixth round, 181st overall, of the 2022 NHL Draft after being passed over in the two previous drafts.
“It was a great moment,” Hofer told NL Sports. “I had the family there and to be able to share it with them was great. They’re a big part of it. I’m super thankful to get the opportunity and I’m excited for the future.”
Hofer has put up 58 points (36 goals and 22 assists) in 53 games this season, with 13 goals and nine assists coming in 17 games with the Blazers since the Jan. 8 blockbuster trade that also saw defenceman Olen Zellweger move to Kamloops.
The six-foot-three Hofer ranks seventh in the WHL in goals, third in faceoff wins (706) and shots (238), and eighth in penalty minutes (94).

Long overdue. Caps get a really good one locked up. Hofer can do it all and has shown that in his six weeks here. https://t.co/azrMuCP4dN
