A heads up for your Monday morning commute as the City of Kamloops says there will be resurfacing and utility work taking place on Fortune Drive.
It says it has contracted BA Dawson Blacktop Ltd. to work on the stretch of Fortune Drive between Oak Road and the Overlanders Bridge, with construction expected to wrap up at the end of June.
Crews will be installing 300 m of sanitary sewer pipe, repairing sidewalks where needed, milling existing asphalt, and repaving it, before marking pavements where needed.
“Some driveway accesses will be temporarily impacted during the project,” the city says, noting property owners will be notified. “Pedestrian access will be maintained through the construction zone. Please obey all traffic control personnel and equipment when driving in the vicinity of the construction.”
“Traffic detours may be in effect and transit will be impacted.”
The City says residents in the area should pack away or protect any fragile items in their homes as crews may be using “compaction equipment” throughout the construction period.
Garbage collection will not be affected, the city says.
Work will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday, with the possibility of some evening work, where needed.
This project comes about one year after crews repaved the section of Fortune Drive between 8th Street and Oak Road.
