The Minnesota Wild have signed Kamloops Blazers defenceman Kyle Masters to a three-year, NHL entry-level contract.
A fourth round pick of the Wild in the 2021 NHL Draft, Masters has put up a career high 59 points (11 goals and 48 assists) in 58 games with the Blazers since his trade from the Red Deer Rebels.
The 19-year-old has also set career highs in goals, assists, power play goals, and shots this season, and leads all Blazers defensemen in assists and is second in points and plus/minus.
Masters has recorded 18 multi-point games this season, and went on an eight game point streak between Feb. 17 and March 4.
Over a four season WHL career with Red Deer and Kamloops, the six-foot Edmonton native has put up 86 points (16 goals and 70 assists) in 164 games.
Masters is the fourth Blazer to sign an NHL entry-level contract this season, joining forwards Caedan Bankier (Minnesota), Ryan Hofer (Washington), and Fraser Minten (Toronto).
Another one. What a season for Masters. Better than advertised. Developed his game further. Gets his NHL ELC. He was quite excited yesterday to get the deal done. Congrats! Fourth Blazer to sign this season. #Kamloops https://t.co/wQn0W5qCEB
