Kamloops RCMP are asking for help after what they say was a targeted shooting in Valleyview early Sunday morning.

Mounties say they were called to the 1800-block of the East Trans Canada Highway around 8:30 a.m., March 12, to reports that a man had been hit by a vehicle. However, they say the investigation revelated that the victim was actually suffering from gunshot wounds.

“A man known to police was taken to hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries,” RCMP spokesperson, Corporal Crystal Evelyn, said, in an emailed statement.

“A police presence remains in the area as officers continue to collect evidence and information related to what transpired, including details about how the report came in and if a vehicle was present in the area.”

While police did not specific where they were called, pictures sent to NL News show police tape was set up around the Tournament Inn located at 1893 East Trans Canada Highway in Valleyview.
