Environment Canada says drivers on the Hope to Merritt section of the Coquihalla could see as much as 25 centimetres of snow this weekend.
It is warning drivers to prepare for a heavy, late season snowfall with the heaviest snow expected tonight into Saturday.
“A robust frontal system sliding down the coast tonight will begin to spread light to moderate snow to the Coquihalla Highway starting this morning,” the weather agency said.
“Freezing levels are expected to remain below summit level this afternoon but with warmer road surfaces initially, significant snow isn’t expected to accumulate until later this evening.”
While some winter tire restrictions end tomorrow, winter tires on the Coquihalla will be required until the end of April.
