UPDATE 2:20 p.m. – Kamloops RCMP say one person was killed in a crash on the Trans-Canada Highway in Kamloops this morning.
Mounties say they arrived on scene around 10 a.m. between Lafarge Road and Kokanee Way to find emergency responders performing first aid on a man who had been hit by a truck.
Corporal Crystal Evelyn says this man – who was taken to hospital in a critical condition – succumbed to his injuries soon after.
“The preliminary investigation suggests the victim had struck a barrier on the highway and was out of his vehicle when another vehicle collided with him,” Evelyn said.
Traffic was rerouted while police and emergency responders were on scene, though Evelyn says all lanes of the highway have since reopened.
Evelyn says the investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
People who witnessed the crash or those with information about it are being told to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-15092.
