Kamloops RCMP are asking people for video and information after a string of suspicious vehicle fires in Aberdeen on Saturday morning.
Corporal Crystal Evelyn says police were called to the 400-block of Laurier Drive around 3 a.m. Saturday, May 13, where Kamloops Fire and Rescue had just put out a vehicle fire.
In a news release, she says “several other” vehicles in the area were doused in gasoline.
Evelyn says firefighters told police about three other vehicles that were set ablaze on the 2600-block of Highway 5A, noting that fire also damaged a fence and a house.
“Due to the timing and proximity of the fires, police believe they are related,” Evelyn said.
Evelyn says two people dressed in black were seen in area of Laurier Drive at the time of that fire. They’re believed to be associated with a newer model, light coloured Honda CRV or SUV with a rear hatch.
“Neighbourhood canvasses have been conducted and will continue to be,” Evelyn added. “Anyone in the area who may have dash camera footage, security video, or information that may be related to this investigation and has not yet spoken with police, is asked to please contact the detachment.”
