The City of Kamloops says a State of Local Emergency in the Noble Creek area, north of Westsyde, has been lifted.
In a statement, the City says the work that was needed to shore up the Noble Creek Irrigation System intake has been completed.
“Through deep frost thawing and erosion, we’re running into issues in which we’re going to have to provide some in-stream work,” Emergency Preparedness Manager Will Beatty told RadioNL last Friday.
Speaking on NL Newsday, Beatty says the May 12 declaration meant the City was able to rectify the issue without having to wait for federal and provincial permits.
“Those lengthy processes [to apply for permits] sometimes can prevent the work from happening and if there wasn’t an imminent threat to the infrastructure, we would definitely be looking at that option,” Beatty said.
The State of Local Emergency was expected to be in place for about a week.
