The New York Islanders have signed Kamloops Blazers forward Daylan Kuefler to a three-year, NHL entry-level contract.
The 21-year-old Kuefler was a sixth round pick (174th overall) of the Islanders in the 2022 NHL Draft.
A Stettler, Alta. native, Kuefler set career highs in points (61) and assists (30) during the 2022-23 WHL season. He added 31 goals and finished with a +32 rating in 54 games while serving as the Blazers’ alternate captain.
Over a four-year WHL career spanning 184 regular season games, all with the Blazers, Kuefler put up 144 points (77 goals and 67 assists). He also finished with 24 points (13 goals and 11 assists) in 30 career WHL playoff games
Kuefler is the sixth Blazer to sign an NHL contract this season – joining Fraser Minten, Ryan Hofer, Caedan Bankier, Kyle Masters, and Matthew Seminoff.
