RCMP say the body of a 39-year-old Lake Cowichan man who was reported missing last week was found in the Kamloops area on Tuesday.
Staff Sgt. Kris Clark told RadioNL that the body of Matthew Mueller was found in Kamloops, though he did not say where.
“The BC Coroners Service has been notified and has launched a concurrent fact-finding investigation into the man’s death,” Clark said.
Mueller was last seen on Tuesday, May 30. Police said last week he had been in contact with his family by phone the following day, May 31, the same day he was reported missing.
The BC Coroners Service also confirmed that the death occurred in the Kamloops area, though they did not say where Mueller’s body was found.
“The BC Coroners Service was notified and is investigating this death,” spokesperson Ryan Panton told RadioNL. “As we’re early in the process of trying to determine all of the facts, I have no additional information to provide at this time.”
