The Kamloops Blazers are going to be getting an earlier start on certain weekends, moving Saturday night home games next season from 7PM to 6PM.
With today’s 2023-24 schedule announcement, the Blazers will have eight games on Saturday nights next season that will start an hour earlier than normal.
“It’s something we’ve debated for a little while,” said Blazers Assistant General Manager Tim O’Donovan with the release of the 68 game schedule today.
“The US Division teams made the change post-COVID, and we’ve already seen Victoria and Prince George move to 6PM on Saturday’s in BC. 6PM seems like a good time for families and for our Season ticket holders. It allows more time after games. It seems like a good move to accommodate the majority.”
The Blazers will have 27 of the 34 home games on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or holiday Monday.
The home opener is set for Friday, September 22nd against the Spokane Chiefs.
This season ahead, the Blazers will host the Central Division teams, while visiting the East Division on a five-game road trip in December to close out the first half of the season.
Kamloops will play four games against the newly relocated Wenatchee Wild. The franchise moved from Winnipeg will begin play in the Western Conference this season.
The Blazers host Wenatchee on Sunday, October 8th in the first meeting between these two teams.
The schedule has 15 home games lined-up before the Christmas break and 19 set for the second half.
“We’re happy with our schedule, said O’Donovan. “It’s well-balanced and think it offers fans a chance to catch at least one home game per week with rarely two home games in a weekend.”
