The City of Kamloops says restoration and landscape work continues through the 6th Avenue bike lane construction zone downtown.
Crews are scheduled to begin painting road lines on 6th Avenue between Columbia and Lansdowne streets early next week, July 3 to 5.
They’ll then begin painting the bike lane itself, with all line painting set to take place between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., weather permitting.
The City says crews are currently preparing to relocate the traffic signals at the intersection of 6th and Columbia.
“To accommodate this move, from approximately 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 5 to approximately 7 a.m. Thursday, July 6, the traffic signals at the intersection of Columbia Street and 6th Avenue will go dark and the intersection will be controlled by traffic control personnel,” the City said.
“Traffic will be reduced to single lane each direction in and near the intersection.”
There will be delays and congestion, with people being told to take other routes, if possible, while this work is underway.
“Residents in the area of the intersection are advised that this work will involve night work and that there will be some noise and lights due to the use of heavy equipment,” the City added.
Construction on the 6th Avenue Bike Lane began in September last year, though work was halted a month later due to supply issues. Work resumed in March of this year.
