11:20am: The City of Kamloops says repair work on the Barnhartvale reservoir has been completed.
Still no word on what caused the disruption.
However, the City of Kamloops is asking residents in Barnhartvale and Campbell Creek to continue keeping their water use low to allow the reservoir to replenish.
Original story:
An emergency alert has been issued by the City of Kamloops, asking residents in Barnhartvale and Campbell Creek to limit their water usage immediately.
Details aren’t clear, but the City says its due to a mechanical issue with the Barnhartvale reservoir.
“Barnhartvale and Campbell Creek residents are asked to reduce water consumption, including irrigating, washing vehicles, and other unnecessary uses of water,” said the City in its alert, which was put out shortly after 9am on Sunday.
The City has not said how long water restrictions may be in-place, or what type of mechanical issue its dealing with at the reservoir.
It comes as Kamloops is expected to be engulfed in another high-heat day, with temperatures forecast to hit 36 degrees through this Sunday.
The City has already activated its heat protocols, opening up the Sandman Center as a cooling center yesterday and today.
