The BC Government says one year of rehabilitation work on the Halston Bridge in Kamloops will begin on Monday, July 17, two months later than initially planned.
The project includes resurfacing of the bridge deck, replacement of the deck joints, and improvements at the east abutment.
Asked about the delay, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation told Radio NL last month that the contract was awarded, with the contractor preparing to start work in July.
“During construction, one lane of traffic will be open in each direction,” the statement said. “Travelers may experience delays eastbound in the mornings and westbound in the afternoons near the Halston Bridge.”
“Drivers are reminded to drive for the conditions, observe construction-zone speed limits, and follow the direction of traffic-control signs and personnel.”
At this time, it is not clear if work is still expected to be done by the initial completion date of May 2024, or if it has been pushed back by a couple of months owing to the later start date.
