UPDATE – Kamloops RCMP say two cyclists were taken to Royal Inland Hospital with unknown injuries after a crash on Lansdowne Street near the London Drugs.
Emergency personnel were called to the 500-block of Lansdowne Street around 11:40 a.m. this afternoon, July 18, to reports of a crash between two cyclists and an SUV.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but early indications are that a red SUV backed onto the sidewalk instead of going forward and hit the two cyclists.
A witness told NL News that he helped lift the car in a parking lot that a woman was pinned under.
As of 12:30 p.m., there was a single lane of traffic along Lansdowne Street.
“A police presence remains on scene as officers, including those from the Municipal Traffic Unit, continue to investigate,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in an update at 1:06 p.m. “The roadway is expected to fully reopen shortly.”
Evelyn says people who witnessed the crash should reach out to the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-25582.
