The Thompson Nicola Regional District has issued an evacuation alert for a dozen properties near the Bush Creek East Fire burning to the northeast of Kamloops.
“An Evacuation Alert has been issued by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), effective July 23, 2023 at 1100 hrs, due to wildfire,” said the TNRD in a release Sunday Morning. “The Evacuation Alert is now in effect for approximately 12 addressed properties”
The Bush Creek East Fire had not been threatening any properties since it was first discovered earlier this month.
The BC Wildfire Service estimates the fire is around 380-hectares in size.
It popped up at the same time a fire on the east side of Adams Lake began.
That fire has prompted evacuation alerts for around 100 properties to the south of the fire on the east shore of Adams Lake.
The Lower East Adams Lake fire is estimated at roughly 18-hundred hectares in size.
