The TNRD says people who have been ordered out should register online for emergency support services. They’re also being told to make arrangements to stay with friends or family, if possible, or head to the reception centre at McArthur Island in Kamloops.
The Adams Forest Service Road is closed from 0 km to 18 km, while the Adams Lake Park – Bush Creek Site is also closed due to the evacuation orders.
The TNRD has also revised an evacuation alert for about 73 properties in Electoral Area “P” as outlined here due to the Lower East Adams Lake fire.
All of those properties have been under an evacuation alert since August 2. Interfor’s Adams Lake sawmill, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Village of Chase also remains on an evacuation alert.
Another 12 properties in the Fadear Creek Road area on the western flank of the Bush Creek East fire have also been on evacuation alert since July 23.
The Bush Creek East fire has burned an estimated 1,789 hectares – 17.8 square kilometres – of land.
The BC Wildfire Service was expecting fire behaviour to increase Sunday due to dry fuels, dry air, increased temperatures, and increasing instability.
“A forecast cold front passage this afternoon has the potential to cause erratic winds and rapid shifts in wind direction along with increased fire behaviour due to potential accompanying thunder cells, the BCWS said.
“Fire behaviour may become erratic under convective conditions.”
A total of 15 helicopters have been assigned to the Adams Complex, which also includes the Ross Moore Lake fire and the Lower East Adams Lake fire.
