Kamloops RCMP say they are also investigating a suspicious fire at a business on the East Trans Canada Highway in Valleyview.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn says Mounties were also called to a business on the 1900-block of the highway – River City Marine – around 4:40 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 2.

Evelyn says they arrived to find firefighters working on extinguishing two boats that were fully engulfed. A third boat was also damaged in the blaze, but no injuries were reported.

“It’s still early in the investigation, but the fire is being treated as suspicious by fire investigators, who are working with police to help determine what transpired,” Evelyn said.
