U-Ride is set to expand its reach to a couple neighbourhoods on the outskirts of Kamloops.
Western Canadian Operations Manager, Ravi Dhami says it comes as certain areas have been asking for U-Ride services, which they haven’t been able to serve previously.
“There are some surrounding areas – Barhartvale and Rayleigh – that have been asking for our service, so we are looking to expand our offering and expand the zone.”
He says the move to expand its reach, is because they have enough drivers to handle the demand now.
“We are thrilled with how things are going in Kamloops, drivers are extremely happy, and with that we are seeing word of mouth spread so we are seeing a ton more drivers come on the platform, wanting to drive for us which is leading to an even better service for the customers.”
Dhami says the increase in drivers is something which is a huge change from over a year ago when they launched.
“I’ll be honest, in the early days, it was a bit tough. We had such an insane level of demand and people in Kamloops interested in our service and we were lagging a bit behind with the drivers. But I can say with confidence, now we have enough drivers to handle all the demand thrown at us.”
For Thanksgiving, Dhami explains they are looking at giving back to their drivers as a “thank you” and will be price-matching all their tips up to $11 on Friday, October 6.
Ontario-based Uride launched its services in Kamloops on June 3, 2022, which also came with a dedicated service to Fulton Field.
