A new Apple TV series starring Kurt Russell, his son Wyatt, and John Goodman that was shot in the Kamloops area is set to be released on November 17.
Thompson-Nicola Film Commissioner Terri Hadwin says the area will be heavily featured on Episode 3 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. That episode is expected to air on November 24.
“It was [shot] really close to the McAbee fossil sites right around the Walhachin, Cache Creek area there,” Hadwin told Radio NL. “So if you’re looking for something really really big – Godzilla big – that is one to look forward to.”
“I think its going to be pretty big.”
Hadwin says the TV series – which is part of the so called MonsterVerse franchise – will give people the back story of the Kong and Godzilla movies that have been released since 2014.
“I hope that they tune in on Episode One so that they can get a good feeling of the scope of the story but if they’re just looking at it as a fan favourite of our region, Episode 3 I think I would be the week after that,” Hadwin said.
Hadwin says this is the first major production to be shot in the Kamloops area since Jurassic World Dominion in early 2020.
“I think that that is probably pretty much on par,” she said. “Jurassic World, Chris Pratt being a big name. That would have probably been our latest feather in our cap, and then this one.”
