The Kamloops Blazers have traded goaltender Matthew Kieper to the Swift Current Broncos for a pair of draft picks.
The Blazers acquired a third round pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft and a ninth round pick in the 2026 prospects draft for the 19-year-old goaltender.
Kamloops reaquired the ninth round pick they traded to Swift Current for 2003-born forward Daylan Wiegel at the 2023 WHL Trade Deadline. Wiegel never played for the Blazers as he was intended to be a depth forward, if needed, during the 2023 Memorial Cup.
Kieper meanwhile played in 13 games over the past two seasons with the Blazers, since his trade from Regina. He went 10-1-1 as a Blazer, with a 3.13 goals against average, an 0.899 save percentage, and one shutout.
The Winnipeg native was playing for the Canmore Eagles in the Alberta Junior Hockey League since his release from Kamloops in October.
Blazers move on Kieper who was playing in the AJHL (Canmore). Broncos had #1 netminder Reid Dyck go down this week. A 3rd rounder back is a good return. Blazers also get their 9th rounder back from SC in a trade from last season. https://t.co/dVgZVWe1eE
