Kamloops Blazers forward Emmitt Finnie has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 11, 2024.
The 18-year-old forward led all WHLers with seven goals, two assists and a plus-three rating as the Blazers won two of three games last week.
Five of those points – four goals and one and one assist – came on Saturday as the Blazers beat Kelowna 7-3.
“It obviously feels good, but getting the win definitely feels better,” Finnie, who was named first star on the night said post-game.
“I thought Emmitt Finnie played as good a game as I’ve seen all year,” Blazers Associate Coach Don Hay added on After the Buzzer Saturday.
Finnie was named third star on the night Friday after he scored two goals in the Blazers 6-3 defeat to Kelowna. He also had a goal and an assist in Wednesday’s 4-1 win over Seattle, and was named first star that evening as well.
The Detroit Red Wings prospect leads the Blazers in goals (16), assists (30), and points (46) this season.
He is also on an career-high 11-game regular season point streak, with 24 of his points (11 goals and 13 assists) coming during that stretch.
