A memorable night for Kamloops native John Ludvig, as he scored his first career NHL goal against the team that drafted him.
Playing in his 21st career NHL game, Ludvig scored the final goal of the night 6:07 into the third period, but the Pittsburgh Penguins were beaten 5-2 by the Florida Panthers.
“It’s a cool feeling for sure,” Ludvig was quoted as saying in The Hockey News. “Something you want your whole life. All I really care about right now is getting some wins.”
“It’s not as big of a deal to me, but it’s cool.”
Ludvig’s first goal – and second career NHL point – came on a wrist shot from the right circle, with Drew O’Connor and Lars Eller picking up the assists.
This goal will always be special for the Ludvig family

The 23-year-old defenceman made his NHL debut earlier this season, spend the past three seasons in the AHL, scoring five goals in 70 games.
