Could it be second time lucky for Kamloops Councillor Nancy Bepple?
The third term City Councillor is once again eyeing a seat on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Board of Directors, after falling short in her bid last year.
She put forward a motion this week and got the approval of City Council to run for a seat at next month’s FCM Annual General Meeting
“Be it resolved that Council of the City of Kamloops endorses Council Nancy Bepple to stand for election on FCM’s Board of Directors for a period of one year, beginning in June 2024,” Bepple said as part of her motion.
“Be it further resolved that should Councillor Nancy Bepple be successful in the FCM Election, all associated costs attending FCM board of director meetings be authorized in accordance with the City of Kamloops’s policy number GGL-3, council remunerations, travel, expenses, and communications allowances.”
While Bepple was not elected to the FCM board last year, she was named a committee member on the FCM’s Regional Caucus for British Columbia. She previously served as an FCM committee member between 2012 and 2014.
Former Councillor Arjun Singh was the City’s most recent representative on the FCM Board of Directors.
The next FCM Annual General Meeting is scheduled to take place between June 6 and 9 in Calgary.
