A marquee signing off the pitch for the Kamloops Youth Soccer Association, as former Vancouver Whitecaps goalkeeper David Ousted has joined the organization as its new Sporting Director.
KYSA General Manager Lyle Dos Santos says the 39-year-old Ousted – who spent five of his seven Major League Soccer seasons in Vancouver – will be a mentor to the scores of young soccer players at KYSA.
“As I’m working building the organization and the structure, David is going to be focused on the development pathway and really focused on the technical development and the curriculum,” Dos Santos told Radio NL. “He’ll be working with our Technical Director and our Director of Programming to build out what the methodology of development here is at the club.”
Dos Santos says Ousted – who also played professionally in Sweden and his native Denmark – will also help out at Rivers FC, where he’s been an advisor to the board for the past year.
“We’re privileged to have so many great people attached to KYSA and Rivers. Between the two boards, Dino Bernardo, John Antulov, Nick Rinaldi, the list could go on and so,” Dos Santos said. “We said that we have aspirations to be the best in class youth organization catering all the way up to a semi-pro team here, and so we’re really fortunate to work with David.”
“He is a great man and a great human being and we are truly privileged to have him come here and be a part of what we’re building locally.”
