Monday night’s lightning storm which rolled over Kamloops has set off a number of small fires around the city, as well as a new blaze to the west of Cache Creek.
A small fire has been discovered this morning to the southwest of Kamloops around Face Lake.
It’s listed as 0.3 hectares as of just before 8am Tuesday.
A spot fire continues to burn to the northwest of Kamloops along Criss Creek, as well as one further up the Tranquille River.
That second fire along the Blue Road Forest Service Road is listed as 2 hectares.
It came at the same time Kamloops Fire Rescue was forced to respond to a pair of lightning-sparked blazes within city limits Monday evening in the Rose Hill and Peterson Creek neighborhoods.
To the east of Kamloops in the Shuswap, 14 properties in the Sorrento area have been put under an evacuation alert due to a fire burning in the South Shore Place and Elson Road area south of the CP Rail tracks.
Out west, a fire discovered last night to the west of Cache Creek, just south of Highway 99, is listed as 10 hectares in size.
It’s discovery has prompted the TNRD to extend an evacuation alert for two additional properties in that area.
